Do Wikipedia links help you rank?

Although Wikipedia's links are n0foll0w, but the line between d0foll0w and n0foll0w has blurred tremendously with modern SEO metrics being taken into consideration. Although those links may not pass link mojo immediately to your site, but gradually and surely, it will be a plus point to your site, in terms of site authority- I believe even though they are n0foll0w, but since it may contribute to the site's authority, the site authority metric would definitely help in ranking higher - not immediately, but gradually it will affect your site's metric and provide a plus point.

Very true...in fact my advice is-the first link u make for a new site should be wikipedia.

most people believe wikipedia links will help your site, at the minimum it should pass some trust.

Thinking that Google will just ignore huge site like Wikipedia just because it is nofollow doesn't make any sense.
Wikipedia is the most trustworthy site in the world, and also VERY moderated so you can't just throw links in. It just doesn't make sense that Google will ignore the links there.

I've seen the same happen. I took two filler articles which weren't ranking that well and had no other backlinks pointing to them. The first article was fairly poor and the second was actually fairly decent. Both topics had poor Wikipedia entries which I redid so I could add them as a citation.
Both of those articles now rank in position 2 below the wiki article, which was already in position 1 at the start.
I probably wouldn't do it again as it was a fair amount of fucking around, but it did make a difference in my experience.

Wikipedia provides a no-follow link, but wiki links are considered as high quality back-links and they help you to rank your keywords in search engines.
