Do websites that have been over-SEO-ed need to be saved?

I have a website that has many keywords ranked on the first page, but after the algorithm update, almost all the keyword rankings were deleted. I think it may be because I over-performed SEO operations. Do I need to continue to update such a website?

Stop blaming google update on yourself. This is first step. Understand that google is a monopoly and profit driven.
If you take one of your post or page and post it on LinkedIn pulse or medium it will rank on first page next day.
Which means google is doing a domain level shadow ban just like instagram and Twitter. Nothing to do with over done seo.
 
these are already Google's problems, you can try to delve into SEO and learn more about how to avoid shadow banks and improve your ranking
 
That is a Google update that is beyond your control.Google killed all of my medium post.

If you feel it's worth it then do it, have you atleast wait until the Google update finish rolling out, sometimes traffic can recover by itself without doing anything
 
I'd say keep updating your site with high quality content. Google keeps rolling out updates every once in a while and it messes up the traffic and site' s position. But once it settles, you can bounce back if you kept on working during this time period. That's what I've noticed so far.
 
Keep it up with your SEO optimization

Am also into it and one thing I have learn is never to depend only on Google search traffics and stay balanced
 
What do you exactly mean by "over-performed SEO operations" & "over-SEO-ed websites"?

Yes, continue updating your site, but shift focus to quality content, user experience, and aligning with Google’s latest guidelines to recover rankings.

It's most likely because you have been affected by an update.
You should look into the current ranking pages that have taken your position.
You will find gaps like the site and content structure, topical relevance and authority of the ranking websites.
Just fill the gaps and wait for some time to climb back.
 
As your mentioning over optimization, are you trying to mean keyword optimization on page or backlink optimization?

Yes. Keep updating. It will recover in next updates .
 
I dont see how so many people are giving you advice without having any idea on what was actually wrong with the site in the first place. @hideath is the only correct answer here. We basically need a LOT more information before giving you any actual real advice. What went wrong? when? what is the site? Ai content? thin content? cheap links? what? could be a million things. Its like going to the doctor and saying "hi doc... whats wrong with me?"

There is no such thing as over-SEOed. It's the google's update's fault not your own.
 
Over-optimized websites can recover, but it takes a strategic approach. First, identify what might be causing the penalty, too many exact match keywords, overuse of backlinks with the same anchor text, or thin content? Start by cleaning up anything that looks unnatural.
