Do Web 2.0 Backlinks Still Work?

Hi everyone,


I wanted to ask for your opinions about Web 2.0 backlinks.
Do they still help with rankings, or are they mostly outdated now?


If anyone is still using them in their strategy, how often do you build them and what results are you seeing?

Web 2.0 backlinks still have value but they need to be done right quality content and natural linking is key. They shouldn't be the backbone of your strategy though.

Backlinks still matter. Web 2.0 is a good source of earning backlinks. But with the age of AI where citations, mentions matter to get visibility in overviews, authority of third party content websites matter a lot. People are forgetting the old off page techniques as AI factors are different compared to traditional off page techniques.
 
Web 2.0 backlinks can still work, but not in the old mass-creation way.

They’re useful mainly for branding, diversification, and content distribution, not as a primary ranking driver.
If built with real content, niche relevance, and some activity, they can help support a link profile.

Low-quality, spammed, or automated Web 2.0s are mostly ignored or risky now.

I usually build them slowly, treat them like mini-sites, and use them to link to supporting pages rather than money pages.
They work best when combined with strong onsite SEO and a few authoritative links.
 
pair them with quality content. Don't mass spam. But depending totally on web2.0 won't help. They only work to diversify your backlink profile and to build topical relevance.
 
They work very well if you publish high quality niche relevant content and link to your site with proper anchors.

Web 2.0s still work a little, but not as strong as before. I use them just for support and to keep my link profile natural. I build a few every couple of weeks. They help, but don’t expect big ranking jumps from them alone.

They can still add a little authority if you build them naturally, but they only really help when paired with stronger links and solid on page work
 
Web 2.0 backlinks can still help a little, but they’re not strong on their own anymore. They work best as supporting links — not the main ones you rely on for ranking. If you use them, keep it light and mix them with better-quality links for real results.
 
Not too strong and not safe for your main website. Okay for tier sites if it has quality contents that link naturally.

This a actually a reasonable response, too bad we've lost a competent poster
 
Standalone they will not work effectively. If you point 20-30 more links to each of the tier-1 web 2.0 link they will get some sauce and help with rank increase.

And most importantly make all the links index. Not only the tier-1 but also tier-2 and if you have tier-3 as well. Without them being crawled by Google, they will not deliver the ranking results.

I would never mass web2.0 to the money site, but with reasonable link to tier-2 or tier-3 would definitely help. I always think like is normal for somebody to open blog and only talk about you? I don’t think so.
 
Web 2.0 links still help slightly, but quality, relevance, and consistency matter most today.
