Do vanity links impact clicks?

For example, would I be more likely to get a click if my links are either shorter or not obviously an affiliate or does this not at all impact clicks?

Yes, definitely. somethng like bit.ly/1j3j59f9s will get less clicks than bit.ly/WebHosting for example (IF your target audience wants web hosting, of course).

If the intention is to HIDE the target, then the first link is the way to go, but that's not what you're asking far as I understand.

I'm not wanting to hide anything, it's probably understood that I have some form of affiliation with the products I'm sharing. I just wasn't sure if there is a negative impact on having a vanity link VS not having one.
