Do trending sounds really help boost Instagram Reels reach and views?

Trending sounds can help because they’re pushed more by the algorithm, making your Reels easier for new people to find.

Does it really help?
Ehh my 2 cents:

Since I mainly repurpose content the audio is changed and it shows as "original audio" instead of getting added to the sounds page, sometimes they get tagged with "may contain audio from..." but still it is not added to the main audio page of the sound.

I would say trending sounds matter in perspective of using audio that is popular and trending as your viewers may enjoy it more than old outdated washed music (classics and generational music is good though)

So I would say not as much as people think or as online sources say it does.

Doing 100s of millions of views monthly with "original audio" so that is just my opinion based off of what I have experienced.

I used to tag trending songs on Tiktok and put the sound down to 1 percent for videos to get added to trending sound pages and it was effective but I dont believe it matters as much now.

A plus for using trending sounds would be better long term views if your video gets ranked high in the sounds page but to go viral you don't need to use a trending sound (tagged) on your reels.

If you are not changing sound pitch/speed etc (repurposing) then just tag the sound or just add the sound through IG does not matter a whole lot for IG just focus on retention and repostable content because the new repost feature has helped increase reach a lot.

It is definitely helpful. They usually carry recommendation weight, which can increase exposure in the initial stage. The reason why it is popular is that it is liked by many users, so compared with other sounds, users will default to things with their favorite sounds.

It does... well, sort of. On its own, it won't, but you can get a very slight edge with the algo pushing your content out there somewhat. A lot of contributing factors to boost reach and views and it's just one of them.

Yes, trending sounds can help a lot. They often get more reach beacuse Instagram pushes them to more people.

Yes of course. It goes viral because people like it, and then the algorithm likes it too.

Yeah, trending sounds help, but only if the reel matches the vibe. If it’s random, won’t do much. Best is trending sound + strong hook + consistency — that’s what really boosts reach.

trending sounds from popular artist could be benefit to generate more interactions on upload if artist fam take time to check on artist list/page.
popular sounds are effective on upload for attention on interaction.

Yes Trending songs do. The reason behind this is that the Algorithm can detect which songs people are listening to; and when someone uses that song in a different video, it gets pushed to the Explore page.

Yeah but depends on the category of video. Obviously if its a dance video (which there are a lot of). On tik tok or whatvever. It will work, If its more of a mini podcast. Then its really not necessary.

yes. trending sound can help you to get more views.

Yes, using trending sounds can boost Reels reach, they align with the algorithm and increase chances of being discovered.

Does it really help?
Of course they help, but if your video is trash it won't make much difference.

You should use the edits app to get more insights on your videos. Learn the drop off points and other stuff to improve your videos.

Do not rely on audio to go viral. It will help maybe 10% or less

Yes, trending sounds can boost reach because Instagram often pushes content that uses them.
They also improve discoverability since users browse reels by sound.
But pairing them with engaging visuals and strong hooks matters more for lasting results.

Trending sounds can boost reach and interactions since they fit the algorithm and attract attention, but their impact also depends on the content type

Yep, trending sounds can definitely help Reels get more reach since the algorithm favors popular audio. They also make content feel more familiar to users, which often leads to higher interactions.
