You're right. For some niches and types of searches, SEO is almost dead. What is left is the walking dead zombie called "authority". Without this, you'll not rank. After a while it will die also.

But for some searches like local services, niche products, and brands, SEO is still thriving. So try to be one of those. Also, SEO is only one source of traffic. No business/website should rely on only 1 source to get customers/users.

One experienced member here mentioned SEO may last for about next 5 years. He said that a year ago. So now only 4 years left. Looking at the current scenario, I completely agree with him .
