People always suggest that submit the documents with backlinks to the document submission website, but I wonder do these document pass linkjuice to my moneysite? Can google read these backlinks?

Interesting question. I would like to know also.

My opinion: if the PDF documents are ranking, why shouldn't they pass juice?
My question: Does the URL in the PDF document count as a link?

Yes! That why many ppl submit to all those online media platform. Like slideshare etc, they do pass down link juice, but take longer time to index and harder to rank.

They pass linkjuice. As long as there is a link in the pdf G read it and index the document. These links are really powerful and add a lot of authority to your site. However, they are underestimate by most of the IMers.

yes they do, but they are most beneficial for their authority

Yeah they can pass link juice if they have that juice :)You get what i meant right?

Take a look at the seo blueprint by cash202. Among a lot of other gems, it talks about which sites to submit powerpoint and pdf to, and also which kind of s/w preserves links. He uses nitro (paid), but the thread is worth reading.

If google can read the backlinks in those document, then I have another question.
Is it okay to submit the same content to different document websites? How's google think about "these duplicate content"?

Powerpoint and pdf are unable to pass the link juice. The reason is very simple that Google is not capable of indexing any type of powerpoint or pdf content.

Everyone before you says they do pass links juice and you are saying they don't... so who is correct??

I also doubt that google would be crawling the content of pdf files and powerpoint files. But having a link in the description on the site that you submit the file to, could be a good backlink source.

Would like to hear other thoughts on this.

Google is not capable of indexing pdf ? Why don't you check on google before saying something dumb :)

Watch out for the next seo methods published ;) They'll all include pdf documents haha

That raises another question:

Is there any different between do follow and no follow document website?
If the doc site is no follow, can link juice pass thru the link inside the doc?

I am certain Google can fully index a PDF document that has been created from an original file, for example Word or even notepad. I am a heavy web user and I am always searching for information, mostly technical Server based information and I would say 40% of SERP's results would be from PDF documents. - It is different if the document is a scan as from my understanding Google wouldn't use any OCR based reading services on the document.

In terms of Google indexing and following a link in order to increase its own link libraries, it would make sense - as Google is constantly looking for new pages to index so I would be shocked if they pass on this as a valued opportunity, however I'm not sure the PDF would carry any weight in terms of Link Juice as the PDF wouldn't have any PR - but then SEO isn't my strength.

Companies such as Nuke4me are now turning to PDF's as a solution but maybe this is to gain the link on the actual profile page of the account that is posting links ... again i'm not sure

"growth in subprime lending over the past several years has been a beneficial development for borrowers with impaired or limited credit histories"

if you Google the above, your SERP's return with a PDF containing that exact phrase so Google is 100% indexing the documents, I guess the real question is whether or not a link the document is effective.

I will run a small test over the next few weeks and see what the results are - has anyone else had any experiance?

False,set up a pdf on your site,e.g yoursite.com/my.pdf
Google will index the pdf no problem.Yes you'll get some value from links in pdf's.Many authority sites have pdf's indexed by google, just use scrapebox it tells you it has removed xxx amount of urls because they are pdf's.

Yes, they do pass link juice, but in some instances seem to be a little bit harder to get indexed, not that they can't get indexed.
