Will google also check shortened links like tinyurl and therefore count that as a backlink to your site?

Check the shortener's /robots.txt file. If it's not there, then yes, it's usually just a redirect so the link will be worth near zero, but any links pointing to the redirect will count as usual.

Some URL shorteeners like goo. gl , ow. ly uses 301 redirection so basically you get most of the link juice.

most of them using 301 redirect and transfers most of the juice.

I've got a bunch of bit.ly links in my backlink profiles on ahrefs so they seem to count. Try pasting them into google and seeing what comes up.
