Just curious if I was to shorten the clickbank url which contains my hoplink to one of those tinyurls or whatever will it still work?

Not sure about clickbank but I used a Peerfly link using bit.ly and when you clicked on the bit.ly link a big warning screen appeared saying the link was already shortened and asked if i wanted to continue. I tested this by sending it to some twitter accounts. Good thing too because that message would definitely turn away people from clicking again.
I'm guessing you would see the same message if you used bit.ly and a clickbank link. Somebody else can confirm?

yes but make sure you use the Clickbank long url not the landing page url
you can use bit.ly, tinyurl, and you can install gocodes plugin on your wordpress system to do it

That's gotta be what my problem was when using peerfly links. I was using the short code and not the long.
