Do Risking App still works ?

I came across one good android app source code which I would like to upload under my developers account on Google Play Store, before doing so I would like to reskin the app in terms of design and fonts, before doing so, I would like to know can this be done, is it a good option to start with app marketing ? Pls guide.

Works, but you must:

a) change not only layout, but also code, Google is smart now
b) change only layout, but obfuscate app (Proguard is not enough)

i know Proguard but how to effectively obfuscate app. any tuto?
