Do replies matter more than likes on X now?

I’m seeing tweets with fewer likes but lots of replies getting pushed harder. Feels like conversations matter more than reactions. What’s your experience?

Yes, replies matter more now because real talks show X that people care about the post.
 
Hmm yes conversations matter most because that's what keeps X an active community :) Also, likes can easily be botted
 
Threads and replies fuel visibility far more than likes. Content that sparks genuine interaction gets prioritized because it encourages deeper engagement on the platform.

That may be true but bottling likes and impressions doesn’t actually push your page in the algorithm more, it actually does literally nothing but change numbers on the screen. Twitter doesn’t even register those numbers as real, you can buy say 50k impressions and Twitter will still recognize it as having 0 and won’t push it anywhere in the algorithm.

I feel the same way; I see that people tend to interact more with comments than reactions, they tend to converse and express their ideas rather than simply react, and that's important to me. I feel that people get more involved in each tweet that way.

What if someone fakes replies?
 
Replies are way more important and tbh pleasant than just reactions. And your content will be shown to much more people after it is commented than just liked.
 
That matches what I’m seeing too, X is clearly weighting replies, reply depth, and back-and-forth conversations more than likes. Fewer reactions but active discussion = stronger signal than passive engagement now.
 
Yes, replies are much more valuable now because they drive 'dwell time' on a post. The algorithm prioritizes conversation-heavy threads as it keeps users on the platform longer than a simple like.

Yeah, replies seem to outweigh likes now. They signal real conversation and keep people engaged longer, so the algorithm pushes them harder.
 
kinda yeah, they signal active engagement and meaningful interaction, not just passive approval
 
Replies > likes right now, but more specifically reply chains + author participation. A post with 10 real back and forth replies where OP responds will outrank 200 passive likes because it extends session time

Fake replies dont help much unless they look human + continue the thread, one liners get ignored. If you want reach, ask something polarizing or unfinished so people cant resist replying

Short answer: yes, replies matter more than likes now.

X seems to weight conversations higher than passive reactions. Replies signal time-on-tweet, back-and-forth, and “network activity,” which pushes distribution harder than likes alone.

Likes = approval
Replies = engagement + retention

Best-performing tweets lately usually spark discussion, not just agreement.
 
I’ve noticed the same thing. Lately, Twitter/X seems to prioritize tweets that generate real discussions rather than just getting a lot of likes. The more genuine replies and back-and-forth conversations a tweet has, the longer and wider it gets pushed.
 
Indeed, replies always generate more interaction than likes; this is true on all platforms.
