Do redirect links help SEO? (Answered)

I have been seeing sellers offer redirect links from high authority Edu and Gov sites that look like this:

eduwebsite.edu/?URL=https://mywebsite.com/

It creates an orphan page on the site with your link on the page.

Does this actually help rankings?

Most will tell you that:
it's spammy
don't do it to your money site unless your model is to churn and burn
it only manipulates domain authority in the eyes of third party tools, a gap left after google retired PageRank, and that google doesnt care.

AND... that we have yet to have a single case study where it has a documented effect on your rankings improving.

Also, if google catches you, your site will be blacklisted, and that it is a technique used by scammy domain and guest post sellers to look but not perform better.

Yes it helps rankings a lot. Especially edu sites.
