Do premium domains drop in price overtime?

I came across a domain in my industry with really good backlinks that is listed for sale as a premium domain for $600. It is owned by a register and has been sitting for a few years. It is set to expire in 6 months but I assume they will keep renewing until it sells. Do they normally lower the price as time goes on or do they just come up with a number and hope it sells eventually?

Opposite.. market value increases - domainers become even more (delusionally) sure their domain will net them $1M one day, and with a reg fee of $10 none of them are in a rush to sell anything.. re-reg for 5 yrs and see what happens.

Domainers are some of the big dickheads I've met actually.

Have you checked archive.org around that expiration day in the past, whether there was any activity, like auction?

@Cls222 A lot of the times these guys don't know how to actually value a domain (SEO wise) and they are sitting on tons of domains. I just recently acquired a domain for $400 that was on sale for $1000. Not as powerful as the other domain I've built a site on, but it was in the exact niche I was looking for and has some pretty solid links so I'm really happy with my purchase.

You can always reach out and make an offer, high chance they will accept a much lower price than list. Good luck!

Market conditions also influence this. If nobody's bidding for it or if domain sales are plummeting then they'll likely put it on sale.

I think that in each particular case that depends on the domain name itself. Any domain name cost as much at the present moment of time as much real buyer is ready to pay for that!
