I registered a bunch of PR2-5 Tumblrs before, never got much link juice out of them though I was able to rank them pretty easily. I thought that because their subdomains were named irrelevantly it would be harder but that wasn't really the case.
If you're talking about resell value, hard to say. There is no public marketplaces for Tumblr domains (that I know of). That would be an interesting idea though, a Flippa for wordpress/blogspots/tumblrs...

For sure but think in terms of a combination of TUMb*r etc with others. The combo is a quantifiable event. Ala natural you see?

off course PR 2 Links are helpful for website. Because Page rank is calculated in Link Juice, so keep all links, PR1 -10.
