Remember those Private Blog Networks (PBNs) that used to be the go-to for link building?
With Google constantly tweaking its algorithms and prioritizing natural links, many SEOs are wondering: are PBNs still a thing in 2024?

This thread is all about figuring out if PBNs are worth the effort these days. Let's share our experiences and see if they're still a viable strategy.

Here are some questions to get the conversation rolling:
  • Have you noticed any changes in how well PBNs work lately?
  • What are the downsides of using PBNs in 2024?
  • Are there any other link-building tactics that are more effective these days?
Honestly, I haven't seen much movement in my rankings recently from PBN links.
It used to be a surefire way to boost your SEO, but lately, it feels like they've lost their magic touch.

I think this is a topic worth discussing, so let's hear your thoughts!

They sure work but the approach to them has changed.

Have you noticed any changes in how well PBNs work lately?
The biggest change is topical relevance to original topic.

If you stray from it too much, PBN unit might get flagged.

They do this in gambling all the time, take a domain about dogs and turn it to casino. It still works but is largely hit or miss these days (usually miss).

What are the downsides of using PBNs in 2024?
Messing up the setup and maintenance, making the network weak or flagged.

The network can be flagged or the issue is with the target website.

After August 2023 Core update, many websites are facing content/on-page issues and they stay unaddressed.

They try to compensate with links but more PageRank is not the answer in such case.

My view is that when you asked does it worth the efforts? Yes, the value depends on the effort you placed to make it valuable.
downsides are because of quality less and fake PBN sellers.
All quality backlinks like PBN, Niche edits and Guest post works good.

Thanks for the reply's!

I'm curious to hear about others' experiences with quality PBNs. Do you have any tips or examples of how to set up a reliable PBN network or what to look for to avoid fake PBNs?
