Just use nofollow links to wiki and google will trust your site a bit more

definitely helps. I find an authority website to link to on most of my sites.

If you believe all the things that "nofollow" is supposed to mean/represent,how would you get any benefit by using "nofollow" on an external link?

The idea behind linking to an external authority site is the fact that you are willing to pass pagerank to the trusted site.

I don't know for sure if it helps, but I'm mostly including a link to wikipedia or to a relevant .edu site in my articles on web 2.0 properties.
Worst thing that can happen is, that it's not helping it all. But since there's nothing to lose, I thought give it a try.

Links like this make the page seem less like it's self-serving, which I like to do when ranking my newer sites.

Using "no-follow" makes it seem fishy (self-serving to the other links), so I avoid that too.
