Hey guys, does building articles/posts/blogposts on your site and building NO links really work?

Or is it just a whitehat seo myth?

What do you guys think?

you need backlinks that’s a 100% certainty.
So unless you can write content so good, that people find it and link to it naturally, then you need to build backlinks to it.

It’s not to say you can’t rank at least somewhere with content alone, but you’d be deliberately hindering yourself by leaving out the link building.

It works
just not for every niche & it's not a method beginners would use either..
& there no real need to "hinder" yourself and not get backlinks either...

Yeah, that's what I've been thinking. Seriously, no way you can tackle niches without building links :/

that's what I'm planing to start doing, i got an expert seo friend and he told me that you can do it but definetly not when you target crazy T1 countries and niches

It helps to some extent, but it's won't help you to compete with your competitors, so create better backlinks for a good impact on SEO.

I won't be persuading anyone here, don't wanna get the banhammer, hehe.
But yes, ranking without even one single link is easily the best thing a new website should be focusing on.
It all depends on what topics you chose to talk about.
Almost any niche has topics that can be ranked for with just content.
As soon as you are indexed you are already ranking Top 10, and if you make a nice snippet you can rank 1st.

Anyone who says otherwise, be my guest.

Yes and no you may rank for few keywords but sooner or later your competition is going to build backlinks and bury you. Plus this is only possible if thr keywords is ultra easy like those zero search keywords

I started a hobby blog back in November. Pure content, no backlinking. While I only have 30ish articles posted, and most of them targeting low comp keywords, I still can't beat quora and Reddit. I'm on page 1 for all keywords though, so it definitely helps to target a specific niche. I assume the more I write the better I'll do but I can see how some backlinks would help me gain some better traction.

Brother how is your site old plus backlinks and some social sharing needed too !

I agree that you can be out-SEOed, but the last part about zero search keywords is not true, topics can be very large and through them you can tap into some heavy traffic.

Also, you will be getting natural backlinks.

If u can't beat quora or reddit on a regular basis you should check the quality of your articles.
Hard to tell what you are doing wrong, so I can't really advise anything.

Absolutely!

This works for low comp keywords very well.

The only downside is when competition builds links for the same keywords as yourself and outranks you.

Build pages with technical information that will be linked to by others as a source.
Easy to do, boring but easy.

Social signals are very powerful also, pint and FB will helo you more than regular backlinks. The social signals are simple, fast, and can bring traffic too.

No, You need to create article, blog links with particular relevant high quality of backlinks are also required to enhance visibility of your website in SERP.

It depend on the niche and keywords, you choose.

If you choose High competition keywords then you must need backlinks to beat your competitors

There is no clear cut answer, because it depends on so many factors (your niche, competitors, low comp kw or high comp kw...). However, it's not impossible and you won't know until you try.

Google considers the backlinks as one of the main factors for the ranking.

Great content brings links naturally but it will take time. While creating the backlinks, do it in a natural drip-feed schedule.

Hope you understand

It's fine ranking for really low competition keywords just through content, while you have no competition as such.

I have a test site with no backlinking done to it in over 3 years, I've been adding 2 - 3 pieces of content a week and it's ranking for most articles and getting indexed in 48-72 hours sowing on Ahrefs and Semrush. Traffic is a little over 5.3k organic. At some point, I'll start off doing a little bit of backlinking and see what improvements that brings.
