Do only an aged expired domain with no backlinks considered good ?

So I was looking for a highly relevant domain for my hurted site and came around few domains with good stats but are having a weak backlink profile. there are more than 300 RD to the expired domain but all are like automated links.

So, I found few domains which are quite old 2000's but has no backlink profile at all. The domain is exactly my niche but as said no backlinks nothing at all just aged. So is it of any good or has the same weight as a brand new domain.

IMO domain age has little bearing. It is cited as a ranking factor but I don't think it is much. If the domain has no backlink profile then I personally think it will react the same as a newly reg'd domain if you start piling in loads of links to it. Bear in mind this is all my thoughs, no exact experience or studies to back this up

Was thought as so, but was has no experience as yours. Looks like it's time to test this myself
