A couple months ago I did a test on engagement and reach after switching to a business account and doing Ads.

I will keep this short and use an anology.

Consider IG or Facebook ads to be Slot machine at a casino.

In order to have you pay and pay and pay, IGs protocol for Ads is to give very little to manipulate the user to pay for higher ad campaign budget. I took 7 accounts with each with 8% or higher (up to 16%) engagement. Ghost and inactive followers were removed.

at the end of the trial. The engagement dropped by 50% for each account.

So when will IG budge and give you a share of their protocol and give you something worth it? Maybe The owner of BHW or anyone who wants to make a huge donation to research can answer that.

FYI there are users on this forum THAT WORK FOR IG, who will discredit this obviously. Do not take this as if you will be rewarded for using their platform. Again, refer back to the slot machine example, if they just gave targeted followers and really gave you the reach you wanted, you would only use it a few times.

Well I have completely opposite experience, and no, I'm not working for them (or maybe I am..) :D

This is actually true. I started using Facebook Ads(+IG ofc) about 3 weeks ago and my engagement dropped with roughly 50% since then.

I'm actually thinking to get out of IG for good, I don't want to invest anything in such an unstable and unpredictable business medium.

Im sure you were pressed to buy more ads as well, but stopped yourself from doing so, am i right?

Do you mind if I ask what your business was doing the IG ads and what are you now using instead of IG?

and FYI you need to consider IG,FB, and some other consolidated..so need to make sure you sctually leave IG instead of going to a platform that is owned by Facebook.

and your case is just another example of my point.

Ofc they wanted me to buy more but I don't want to encourage them anymore. Messing up my engagement just to make me buy more ads is just not fair. I mean... I was already buying their ads, how stupid is to think that lowering the exposure of my IG posts LIKE THAT will encourage me to buy even more instead of pissing me off. WTF...

Idk what to do next but I won't include IG/FB in my future plans anymore that's for sure.

I apologize but what does OFC mean?

So what does actually work to add more real followers on IG apart from "posting quality images/videos" with "hashtags"?

Well, that's the marketing phase.
Targeted hashtags can help you revive back engagement rate.

You're probably targeting the wrong audience and attracting people with little interest in your content

When you attract people relevant to your content, it is inevitable that many of these people will engage in your posts.

My experience with IG Ads is being very positive, I suggest rethinking your ads, it's not the platform's fault.

Right now nothing!!!

Do not buy any program out there. go on the shitlist here on BHW. There are tons of complaints against providers who WERE good but are not anymore because of IG updates.

What is your business using IG? I do not have a program to suggest for you but I can recommend free alternatives for you business purposes

"Positive"

Absolute no detail there. This is what the members of BHW should watch out for. Posts like these that say "Great" or "positive results" vague and most likely false. Already defending "the platform".

The accounts i did a test on ALREADY had great engagement from the followers.

Biggest example but not the only one: One account of 50k with avg. 5k likes from the followers. After IG ads, likes from followers dropped and engagement went to 5% then to 1%, after switching back to personal and discontinuing ads, the engagement went back to 5%

Its pretty obvious you work for IG and are most likely apart of the department in Facebook that reports all the automation methods.

Thanks for the reply. but how can hashtags and getting likes from users who DONT follow you, revive engagement from your own followers?

move to twitter

Money is there
I think for many it may be tough to do so because their market or industry is not present on twitter. I think it depends on that stuff

Alright pal, I will talk with my management to see whether we can revise the slot machine protocol for your accounts.

Thanks for bringing this up to me.
