Do not use Hostgator anymore?

My website is lagging need 3-5 minutes to load, previously before EIG taken over hostgator my website is working FINE. However NOW is totally UNACCEPTABLE! Slow loading + my website is DOWN NOW!!

I pay $ for web hosting and now my website is DOWN! for hours.

Contacted hostgator, they said cannot help at all. Another up there hosting will be closed DOWN soon?

Relax man, it happens to every hosting service. You can't expect them to be up 100% of the time. Remember earlier this year when godaddy had problems? There main site and services where down. Amazon also had a similar problem last year. You probably pay $10 a month, a few hours is what? not even $.25? Don't sweat it man.

Sometimes these things happen.


I wouldn't ditch them because of one incident.

For example, a friend of mine works in facebooks tech center, in Oregon.

You're paying like 8 bucks a month? Maybe 15? Right?

If you want your site to be up 24/7, GUARANTEED ALL THE TIME you have to pay a big team of guys and host your servers in warehouses like the big boys do.

I take it lightly. Shit happens. I'm sure they'll be back up today.

edit - you can buy your own server.... :)

Because Hostgator and bluehost is owned by EIG. That's why it down together. My wordpress website is NOW down for hours.
 
Hostgator's been going downhill all year. I suggest you jump ship, that's what I'm doing.

Yes, there are more and more people joining hostgator however, the service is getting more and more lousier even shared hosting is being overloaded I think. What are the hosting you recommend? Even hostgator support is going downhill I need to wait for 20 minutes nowadays to get attended by a customer support live chat staff.
 
Huh?? Give them some time buddy. They are all messed up currently. It happens with all of us. HG has been one of the most consistent performers I have seen in my coding and IM life. Don't be so quick with your decision please. :-)
 
my site is offline also and I just shifted to hostgator 1 week ago!

host gator and bluehost don't really care about their customers too much, if enough people leave they might make some changes. Godaddy on the other hand has amazing customer service even though they're not the cheapest it's still worth going with them.
 
my sites are also down today! can't do anything as its for many other hosting providers!
 
All of you defending HG - are you aware that the company that owns bluehost, EIC, took over Hostgator at the start of this year? Unsurprisingly, that's when the problems started. They're no longer the company you used to know and love, their history means nothing. It's an average-to-shit host nowadays.

I'm still looking for options, but I have accounts with Namecheap and Host The Name and they've both been good for me.
 
This always happens to Hosting providers, it can always happen the best thing to do is just wait and if it does keep doing that then switch.

I'm not understanding why people are asking him to stay with hg.

OP, just know that HG is one of the better hosting companies out there (in many of our experiences). Now you decide what you want to do.
