Do Not Trust Yahoo Backlink Count!!

Merry Christmas Guys,

I am working on one of my sites, and its almost just 1.5 months old. I want to share the backlink counts of both YSE and Goo Webmasters

So please dont trust the yahoo backlink count as it can be very deceiving. and it also shows how number of backlinks cant harm :D .

I didnt use xrumer, its pure article syndication ;)

What does Majestic SEO show? Curious to get a comparison...

(Google it if you haven't heard of it)
 
This just blows my mind how you can get over 100k backlinks on Google on a 1.5 month old site...

How is it ranking?

Lol google is more decieving. I have a site which has 26k Backlinks when I remember only doing like 1000 (700 shown in yahoo)
 
Yahoo shows lesser links with the usual link:site.tld format. Try using the linkdomain:site.tld and you're more likely to see the real count which will be close to what you'll see in Google Webmasters.

For example: link:whatismyip.org shows 568 backlinks whereas linkdomain:whatismyip.org shows 1581 backlinks.

And whether too many backlinks will harm or not really depends on the quality of the links. Think about it - if all the world's newspapers carry an article about your site with your link in it, it will definitely help you. On the contrary, try an XRumer and Scrapebox blast on low PR sites and watch your site get sandboxed!
 
i think older sites are save from scrapebox/xrumer blasts if the links dont show up all suddenly i am testing it on a site now with xrumer links.
 
to answer many questions, and also to add a lil bit to my main post

1) I checked using linkdomain

2) I used article marketing robot and many sites are syndicating my articles from abase,dashboard n goarticles, i scrapeboxed a little but didnt continue with that

3) I paid some1 to throw in some high pr backlinks so that my site stays on the authoritative side

4) Its an article directory so i just reconfirmed that many people blasted their articles through crappy links, so i cant say its PURE ARTICLE SYNDICATION anymore :p sorry

5) I dont care about ranking cz its not a microniche site, my inner pages a ranking quite well and m starting to see decent traffic considering the age and my effort(almost nill)

6)My main aim is to gain PR, many would say PR is crap and means nothing but i believe it means a lot otherwise it would never have come into existence , it matters more when you want to rank inner pages for long term phrases,which is what i want.
 
someone mentioned majestic seo, i checked with it after you suggested me to and it makes no sense at all, it states the indexed pages are just 32 :p whereas i have more than 5100 pages indexed on google.... so i didnt even care to analyze further on Majestic SEO ... n moreover i feel webmaster tools is more accurate than any other tool... google can only tell hw many backlink google is counting towards a site
 
Majestic updates once a month or so, so my guess is your snapshot in their system is an old one... Not surprising that it disagrees with your real stats, since your site is only a month and a half old. :)

Hello brothers!

Yahoo is correct and google is also correct, Yahoo shows the actual amount of backlinks you have on your index or main page and Google shows the total amount of backlinks of your site including each page.

I think you will understand it.

the feature ur talking about is "linkdomain" in yahoo... and the results are different in both... now google is showing 197,771 backlinks to the whole site, means including all pages n everything

When I check my site in yahoo then it shows more backlinks then googel webmaster tool only for the domain (index) page.

i still believe it is much more accurate than google for checking backlinks, although yahoo does have the occasional glitch!
 
majesticseo is the best overall tool as it gets it's data from several sources. And it also shows up to 7500 backlinks, unlike Yahoo which only shows 1000
