Do Nofollow Links Really Work? Are they worth the effect?

An age old question, which has probably been asked and answered a million times before!

Is there any evidence that nofollow links increase rankings? I can see that you need them to make your link graph look natural but has any noticed if they increase rankings?

Nofollow links do not play big role in ranking of website but ******** can much help to get high PR and better SERP. Therefore most of the seo expert give suggestion for ******** blog comment. I prefer ******** link while go for link building.

Well FB is nofollow and people seem to think those are pretty important. Not sure of the impact no follow has with google but at the least some of these help your pages get indexed faster imo

Yeah I agree, they do work in helping pages get indexed, but on mass I have no seen any evidence that they increase rankings.

I have not either unless it is a totally obscure KW. I saw a study where a blogger posted a comment link with a misspelled KW that had 0 competition, the url was not optimized for the KW and within a week google showed that url as the #1 result for the misspelled KW.

What that means is anyones guess but we can agree that even with nofollow it does alert google to what your page is about, as to passing any authority or rank, they say it doesnt. I look at it as a suggestion as opposed to an endorsement.

So to me a do follow link is like your buddy saying "Joe's has great steaks" when you ask him. A no follow link is your buddy saying "I am not sure about the quality but Joe's serves steaks."

They are not good for Serp increase. tested it.

100% useful. I ranked a local mortgage broker's site on almost exclusively nofollow high PR manual blog comments. His site had settled on page 10 before I built those links.

Some food for thought though. Google has said they are looking more and more to social media for rankings. Pretty much every social media site is nofollow. You do the math.

wikipedia is nofollow but a link from a wikipedia page is very useful and generates nice traffic too.

I've seen some Seo experiments which tested a website with only nofollow (around 2000) links. The website wasn't even indexed by G

Anyways... I personally don't care about nofollow - a link is a link.

My opinion is that nofollow links don't give linkjuice but linkcount.

you will be needing a no follow link to diversify your links, if all of your links are do follow your site will looks suspicious on the keen eyes of google.
