Hi, I’m yet to optimize my on-page content with more FAQs and long-tail keywords. I’m curious if LSI keywords still work in 2024. I read a few articles saying Google doesn’t use LSI anymore because it’s old tech. Has anyone tried using LSI recently and did it actually help?

Google doesn't use LSI keywords anymore.

Instead, focus on creating content that thoroughly covers topics and addresses user intent with related keywords naturally

In my point of view LSI will help you to get the specific and more relevant traffic to your site. Especially, LSI keywords which has link to your actual target keyword that will helpful to understand quickly by the search engines about your content relevancy and has chance for ranking improvements,

Integrating related terms and long-tail keywords can help improve your content's relevance and visibility.

Google doesn't focus on LSI now but understanding the context and Relevance remains the key for effective SEO.

Yes, LSI keywords still work in 2024. They help search engines understand context and relevance by using related terms and synonyms.

Yeah it works still, but while building links I would suggest you use diversified anchors that includes naked URL, main keywords based on search volume to look more natural.

Instead of focusing on LSI keywords, try to incorporate natural language and related terms that fit your content naturally. Tools like Google’s ‘People Also Ask’ and the related searches at the bottom of search results can provide good ideas for related terms and questions to include.

Focus on naturally using semantically related context and topic relevance in your posts rather than LSI keywords.

LSI might be outdated but the concept behind it is still relevant i.e using the related terms to improve content relevance. Google's algorithm has evolved and they've moved beyond the LSI terms, but these keywords still help the search engine understand the context and meaning of your content. So yes, adding related keywords and synonyms in your content, especially in the FAQ, and long tail keywords is a great way to improve the search rankings.

You should stop looking at keywords and start looking at topics.

in my POV LSI helped my website gain a lot off traffic as a result of the new wave of AI

Yes, LSI keywords still play role in SEO in 2024 and there are many advantages and disadvantages like
  1. Enhanced Relevance: LSI keywords help search engines understand the context and relevance of your content. By including related terms, your content can cover a topic more comprehensively, which can improve its chances of ranking for various related queries.
  2. Avoid Keyword Stuffing: LSI keywords allow you to avoid overusing a primary keyword by providing alternative terms that are still relevant. This can make your content more natural and less repetitively

Disadvantages

  1. Overemphasis on LSI: While LSI keywords are useful, focusing too much on them can lead to neglecting other important SEO factors like quality content, backlinks, and user intent. A balanced approach is essential.
  2. Misconceptions: The term "LSI keywords" can be misleading. LSI itself is not used by modern search engines like Google; instead, they rely on more advanced natural language processing and machine learning techniques to understand content. This means that while LSI keywords can be helpful, focusing solely on them might not yield the best results.
LSI keywords can still be beneficial for understanding and improving content relevance, they should be part of a broader SEO strategy. The focus should be on creating high-quality, user-focused content and leveraging various SEO techniques to achieve the best results.

LSI will always work as they help search engine understand the context and relevancy of your topic/keywords to your content.
