Do local business care more about leads than rankings?

Many SEO discussions focus heavily on rankings, but most business owners care about revenue have you found that local clients are becoming less interested in ranking reports and more focused on calls bookings and actual lead generation?

Of course, business owners care about leads. What's the point if you can rank a business in SERPs, but they aren't getting any leads?

The goal is revenue. Customers produce revenue. Leads produce customers. SERPs are just one of many ways to produce leads.

A #1 ranking that brings enough traffic to lag the server but few leads is far worse than a #5 ranking that brings in five-figure contracts. Clients may ask about the reports, but revenue is what pays the bills.
