Do Keyword Penalized Sites pass juice link ?

Hi there,

I have some 2 years old domains , back from the time when anchor text over-optimization was the key, that now are keyword penalized due to having 60% of the anchor text = keyword. DA = 24, PA = 37 .

With others I've diversified the anchors but, from my results, the penalization stays .. I could 301, but not interested in ranking for that keyword anymore.. so my question is have anybody any experience of the link juice that this site can pass for let say a PBN ? Is it worth to use the site to build a PBN ? Or better to redirect ? or just drop it ?

I would drop it. after a 301 they usually rank for a very short time before the targeted site gets tanked.
 
YOu should not 301 the penalized site because it will cause a rank drop for sure.

However I really have no idea about the link juice it could pass with a link. Generally speaking, people try to avoid links from deindexed webpages but regarding a penalized site, I'm interested to know expert's point of view.

Exactly . So no better why to try it out. I'm starting a test ..trying to rank a inner page of one of this domains for a related niche keyword .

Posting content right now and then, wait 3/4 days and start to build some links ... whenever I have some updates I'll let you know.Thanks
 
You could always point a link to a third page - a web 2.0 site for instance - and then use that to buffer any penalty and use the link juice you built up previously to point a link back to another money site of yours. It allows you to potentially get some value out of the links to this penalised domain but reduces the risk massively.
 
Keyword penalized site do indeed pass link juice but I would agree with SteveWaller, let it act as web 2.0 instead if you want to erase any risk with an already solid site.

You saying Penalized Site link-to web2.0 link-to money site ? But I would loose a lot of link juice, considering that web2.0 have a lot of "get your free site here", "theme name" links that will "drink" part of this link juice.

Yes would reduce the risk of passing a penalty to the money site (using a web property).

If you buy new domain and 301 the domain with penalty, than no other site will get the juice. Anyway I thin in the both cases the buffer can get penalty for doorway page. Haven't idea how to deal with such domain, but will be very happy to see different points.

It will not pass the penalty in the short term but it will pass in the long term ..it could last 3 months, 6 or even 9 months ..it's very random . For 'churn n burn' it's perfect but any other case is not really that good. From my experience, of course.

But it might be good for a PBN has just to pass link (option a) juice and no penalty or still useful to rank other related niche keyword (option b).

The option a, I can't really test it right now , but I'm running tests for the option b . Let see how it goes.

Yes that's exactly what I am saying. True you will lose a bit of juice from the additional tier and from the links added by these web 2.0s but I can't think of another option that will reduce the risk of passing the penalty on. Isn't some juice better than no juice?
 
Links should ideally come from pages that can themselves rank well for your main keywords, in your case, it is not really the case.
