Well I'm a newbie hacker, can you give me more information on exactly what you did and where you got the rootkit? This sounds like fun!
Do IT admins get any dumber than this?

Another fun, not hacking, but annoying tasks is to create a command file that loads during startup. I would drop the commend file on server which would have the file paths to programs like Notepad, Sol, Minesweaper, IE, Winword, Excel, etc.
I would also keep a .reg file on the server. I'd go to each computer and doubleclick the .reg file which would create an entry on the computer telling it to load the startup file. Which would in return load all of the programs.
That did get me in trouble though.
I did hack into a teachers computer during class. I made it launch a website which faced the class and loaded inappropriate content on it. That was taking it too far. I had friends in the class that knew it was me and were shocked to see it happen. I locked the keyboard and they called other teachers in. They all starred at it wondering what it was.
Netsend was also a blast. It was very easy to get the IP addresses of the computer in the same room. You could send a BSOD command to their computer. I once did that to an entire lab while they were typing their portfolio. I was in another room watching... and boy did they get mad.
I do not encourage you to do any of those. They make for good stories but due cause trouble.
