Do Instagram Stories still help with growth?

Stories are just useful for keeping your followers and audience engaged, You can also share new posts and reels on stories so that way you get some engagement for your existing audience. Reels are probably the best way to get engaging followers which will stick, The first 2 seconds and hook matters the most along with retention.

Stories seem to be better for retaining the current following, whereas Reels work well for acquisition. However, a combination of both seems to be more effective; Reels for acquisition and Stories for engagement.
Exactly right. reels drive the initial wave of traffic but stories create the trusts that actually makes people click through the links. using them together is the only way to sustained engagement.

For me I try to use stories to keep my followers engaged in between posts since I do not post everyday. When I do Post I use reels 80% of time and carousels 20% of the time.
Stories may not be giving me new eye balls but stories can definitely help followers remains engaged. i have seen that a few simple stories a day can keeps the account alive.
According to me facebook stories helping in your growth like pormotionals stories .

Yes stories are only for keeping your existing audience active. Reels though attract more followers to your account.

In my experience it helps a lot for the growth. There is a feature so why not use it and gets benefit.

stories are great tool for do a lot of things. only fans models use it to link their external links and then have the story in highlights when they dont want to put thier link in the bio. you can link all kinds of things in stories. also you can boost a story to reach a target audiance. the story space is a more engaged space because people are really flipping stories often when they are in the section, and people are actually staying in the stories, lingering a bit more there/
Reels help reach new audiences, but Stories seem to have the edge when it comes to retaining existing followers and maintaining relationships with them.

Agreed, stories needed to be posted every 24h, 2 stories in a row is best, u dont need to create content for them, just repost your last reels on first, and add link to your content ( shop, external site, etc ) in second story, best combination for basic live account.
