.info used to be a perfectly good extension for building a blog to rank high in google, is that still the case?

Thanks.

According to Google the extension shouldn't make any difference, so it should be fine. I've heard a few people say they've struggled to rank .info sites, but in my (admittedly limited) testing they've ranked fairly well

Google would never publicly discriminate between T L Ds and nobody could decisively tell you if it is bad/okay. My theory is simple - if a lot of people think it's better to go for the . com and the . net etc., then it's better to follow them and not risk my time and effort.

yes it still works. i use them 90% of the time for clients and they work just fine.

LOL @ the sheep mentality.

.info will do just as fine as any other TLD, i have lots and lots of dutch local keywords in .info domains who are doing great.

Test it yourself with two domains (.info/.com) and a two similar keyword in competition, and see which one will rank faster, i will tell you that if you do this test 10x you will get a 50/50 answer.
