Do image and doc sharing backlinks still work ?

I see many SEO link-pyramid packages include document and image sharing backlinks.
In fiverr there are many guys who can submit this kind of links really cheap, so link-pyramids are over preized imo.
But my question is : do they work? are they good links?
do i need for every doc sharing site an unique article or can i submit 10 same articles?
what about images? same or different images?

These are all diversity links, what works for serps is good quality contextual links.
