Hello BHW!
I am happy that I found this awesome forum, now that I have been following couple days, I just have question about proxis.
I personally use VPN software Windscribe, it is good in my opinion, they provide 15gb of free month every month and all my network traffic goes trough it, or I at least think so. When I open any source of software that shows my IP, everywhere is same IP and fake country I choose from. Isn't the proxy doing the same? Do I need proxy thing If I am using this software? Sorry if you are now thinking ''what the fuck is this guy talking about''... I just dont know, thats why I ask you :)

I'm pretty sure proxies are cheaper to replace, and usually faster than going through a VPN too.

Oh okay thank you, but the purpose of these two are the same right? To protect you from the ''bad'' haha

Well that's one of the purposes. Sometimes you want to appear as if you're browsing from a different location, sometimes you just want to be anonymous.

So proxy does make you anonymous? Like if you have proxy you dont need this kind of software?

Aside from vpns and proxies there are some other steps that should be taken depending on the browser your using, such as disabling webrtc etc. Also depending on what you are doing, there's always someone (big brother) who can figure out who you are.

The measures you take to conceal your identity should be commensurate with your activities though, so what you need depends on your specific situation. I would recommend doing some general research on what proxies and vpns do and how they work. This will help you understand more.

Resedentual ip from a broadband provider.

Vpn , virtual private network
It a service you subcribe and they hide your ip while you surf the internet .

Semi deadcated
This is a service you hire a certain amount of proxies but there shered amoung usally 3 people at the same time.

Deadcated proxies
These are hired in amounts and are private to you , the service more expensive.

You can know get other proxies that are free what your vpn does .
There called , public proxies

You can also get socail media proxies that are for creating socail accounts ....

Most proxies are used to scrape the internet for data but using sofwere , like scrapebox

I'd go with VPN.
You most likely need proxies if you need many different IPs. Most VPN services provide you with a set of IP addresses (from 1 to some tens) but proxies, both free and paid, could be used to quickly have 100s or 1000s of IPs.
If you just need to hide your real IP/country I'd go with a VPN. Am not promoting anything, but I personally use TorGuard service (don't miss with the TOR), it costs around $5/mo if you buy for one year (if I recall) and has lots of countries. On my 15 mbps conn the cut down on speed is barely noticeable, if using EU VPN servers.
Proxies are way slower than VPN and they die (if they're not private). But if you need to scrape Google or whatever that has IP limits you'd better go with pack of priv8 proxies.
So both solutions are designed for different cases.

Thank you :)
and hey, posting just "Thank you" is against the terms of BHW !
3.5 engaging in post count inflation by posting excessive amounts of short replies for the sole purpose of inflating your post count. This includes the infamous “thanks for the share.” . (If you’d like to say “thanks” to someone for their effort/contribution, make use of the Thanks button).

Depends what you want to do. JUst for surfing the web, then go for the cheapest option - A SHARED PRIVATE PROXY.

now the main difference between a VPN and a PROXY:

VPN - connects your WHOLE SYSTEM via the VPN server. So you firefox and uTorrent will connect online and show your IP as the VPN IP.

PROXY - connects only your DESIRED APPLICATION - so if you set your Firefox through a PROXY, only your websurfing will get diverted through the Proxy server, while your uTorrent traffic with show your real IP.

REMEMBER:

VPN - SYSTEM BASED

PROXY - APPLICATION BASED

Good Education thread its turning to be, thanks all.
