Do I need overseas hosting?

I'm not going to compete with anyone for any niche video website, but just curious: if I'm simply embedding videos in my WP blog that are hosted on some other website, and if those videos are copyrighted, like full episodes of some shows, or even full movies, would it be illegal for me to display that content on my website?

Remember, I'm only embedding, not actually hosting. Would I be fine with just good ol' hostgator?

HostGator is the worst for this...

You will loose your website ...for sure.

You need Private everything and Offshore.
 
Really, private everything, even though I'm only embedding someone else's hosted content? Wow.

I am indeed in the U.S. And what's wrong with hostgator, I thought they're pretty "chill" as long as you're not doing anything that takes up a lot of bandwidth or have millions of views a day.

I'm not insisting on doing anything at all. I asked a question and am expressing disbelief. Can anyone else confirm this besides raidel21, whose experience in this game is unknown to me?
 
I've known of a few usa based websites being closed due to embedding copyrighted videos
 
Can't imbed, US law states against the sharing of movies in some subsections.
