Is there any benefit to have both tools? What Micro Niche Finder can do that Market Samurai doesn't?

I don't think you need Micro Niche Finder. MNF is probably more user friendly than Market Samurai but that's not to say MS is difficult to use as I'm sure you know. You have arguably the best keyword/IM research software out there and anything MNF can do MS can do as good or better. :)

Well, I'm actually already convinced of the power of MS. I was just wondering if the MNF can add even more supporting market research data as the research is THE most important thing in IM

I've only ever used MNF and can say that it works great for me!

In the latest weeks MS is going to suck the balls.
I was a really enthusiast MS user and paid customer.
But every version they spit out every week is going to be buggy, slower and not accurate like a few months ago.
It's time to switch if I find a good alternative.

I find MS to be extremely slow lately. Never tried MNF, but will look more into it to give my take.

MS has been slow, annoying and buggy as of late (specially the last 2 months when it timed out on the Google Keyword Tool data). Baring this, it's a powerful software that does a pretty good job. MNF is a worthwhile alternative if you want something user-friendly and simple.

Yes...Anything that MNF can do MS can also with better reports

No, you don't need MNF if you have MS. I have both.

I think the most notable feature of MNF is that it can measure "TRUE" Strength Of The Competition (inurl, inanchor etc) while MS will scare the heck of you by just a MERE PR.

I might be wrong. :p cause I think its been a 1 year since I last use MS.

I did a trial of MNF and I really liked it, but didn't see any reason to buy it since I already had MS.

Both tools suck, but MNF is far worse

MNF is based on the assumption that the more number of competing sites there are, the harder the keyword is to rank for, which is blatantly false. That's like saying "i have a better chance of winning a race with only 10 people in it when the fastest runner can run a 15 minute 5K than a race with 1,000 people where the fastest time is 30 minutes". If you want to win a race, the only number you care about is the fastest time you need to beat, not the number of competing racers. Same goes for keyword research. The only thing that matters is how tough the #1 spot is to beat, not how many are competing

Just search for "dog mistletoe party" and you'll see that it has an enormous amount of competing pages, yet none of those pages are optimized for the term and none have any of the backlinks using that anchor text. So overall, DONT buy MNF, it's terrible

As for Market Samurai, it's better than MNF, but it is slower, more resource intensive, and has less features than Traffic Travis, and Traffic Travis is FREE. If you bought Market Samurai, I highly recommend you get a refund and switch over to Traffic Travis, it is so much faster than MS and has on-page analysis stuff that MS doesn't have

Overall, the two best tools for keyword research are Traffic Travis and SEO Spyglass. Use Traffic Travis to get a basic glimpse of the top ten keywords, check on-page optimization, and track rank over time, and use SEO Spyglass to check how many backlinks are nofollow, how high PR the domains and the pages are that the backlinks are on, and what percent of the backlinks use the keyword as anchor text

thanks you saved me some money :D

What do you think of other tools by Link Assistant?http://www.link-assistant.com/rank-tracker/

Thanks a lot for explanation Oinky, does anyone of them has option for number of monthly/global searches? Obviously people would like to know the fastest time in the race but I am sure they also want to know if that race worth it to run (number of searches - how many people is interested for that specific keyword) . I search for some simple tool which gives this data . Do you know some?

Yes MS suck, got rebooted on a windows 1GB vps and very resource intensive but better than MNF.

What do you think of other tools by Link Assistant?
Web Auditor - This one SUCKS big time and can literally make your site WORSE. The problem with this is that it bases its recommendations off of the on-page SEO of the top 10 sites for the keyword, but for many keywords you'll find that a lot of the top ten ranking sites have terrible on-page SEO and are ranking solely due to backlinks.

So take the "dog mistletoe party" example, Web Auditor would actually tell you to decrease the keyword density of this phrase on your site, not put it in the title, and make other negative changes because the other top ten pages don't have a high keyword density

So STAY AWAY from this one. The tool I use to check on-page SEO is Traffic Travis, which is free and much, much faster than Web Auditor, which makes it way better if you are looking at tons of competitors at once

Link Assistant - this one is pretty useless. It's main purpose is for finding potential "link exchange" partners to email and ask for links, and then keeps track of all of them for you. The problem with this is that traditional link exchanges like "I link to you and you link to me" are 100% dead as Google no longer values reciprocal linking. The only way you can get away with link exchanges is through programs like Automatic Backlinks, which Link Assistant doesn't support, making it useless

Rank Tracker - this is a very good tool but pretty overpriced. Traffic Travis has a rank tracking tool and is free. The main advantage of Rank Tracker is that it creates really good graphs and can track over time, which is really good if you run an SEO company and need to export reports to your clients. But for most people, I don't think the fancy graphs are worth paying $100 for plus $10/month after the first 6 months, so while I do own Rank Tracker, I think most people would be better off sticking with Traffic Travis for rank tracking

So bottom line is that SEO Spyglass is amazing and 100% worth getting, while the other SEO Powersuite tools could probably be avoided

I use the Google Keyword Tool for finding the number of searches a term gets per month. Just make sure to always use "Exact" match and you'll get decently accurate data
