do i need a vps ?

hello !
I want to make a wordpress blog .. on which I would stream online movies... I will embed the videos ..

i have a hosting with 2 gb space , bandwidith -25 gb

is it enough to make a site .. or i need a vps or server etc ??

To stream videos you need a lot of bandwidth. If a movie has 800 Mega and you will have 100 visitor who will watch a entire movie you will need at least 80 GB of bandwidth... I will pick a VPS because you can be closed on a shared hosting

You say you are embedding the videos. Does that mean your embedding the videos from other sites (ie: youtube, veoh, etc)? If so, then you won't need very much bandwidth as those videos will be using the host's sites bandwidth instead of yours. The only bandwidth you need to worry about is just enough to run your site with the amount of visitors you get.

If you are hosting the videos on your site, then as Mazgalici said you'll need a lot more bandwidth. If your site starts getting decent traffic, you'll need to look at going for an unmetered server. For starters a VPS would be a good start.

Another thing, is if you plan on hosting copyrighted material (like movies) then you should look at doing offshore hosting outside the United States or any pro-copyright country.

I have a tvshow website with embedded videos (Zshare) and with 200,000 pageviews a month I need about 30 gb traffic. Most of the videos are about 20 or 45 minutes long. So you can do the math for yourself. It's on a shared hosting, and with your 25 gb traffic you can go a long way.

You don't need VPS right now because they are using little of bandwidth... May be in future when you receives big burst of traffic... I am also running similar site on my shared hosting and it's fine...

dont go for a dirt cheap shared host and it should be fine, the cheaper you go, the less resources they let you consume and the sooner you will get kick off of their hosting and if they ever say you are using too much resources, buy a dedi/vps from us, DONT LISTEN TO THEM, go searching around for deals on dedi/vps's cos normally they charge waaaaay too much for vps/dedi's *stares at gaydaddy*
