Do I Even Have a Chance?

Before I even begin, just warning you that this will be long... TLDR at the bottom but it would be appreciated if you read everything.

So for a while now I've wanted to make a more personal YouTube channel. In 2007 I made one about Origami, it got 1k subs and 200k total views, nothing special. The AdSense account got banned for reasons I don't know. It's been a while since I've contributed to YT, but I just loved the whole idea of YouTube and how great it would feel to be popular and have so much support from your fans. So I've decided to get back into it.

• Now I'm only 15 years old, and I'm not sure if I even have a chance. I mean, everyone hates kids my age before even giving them a shot, which is definitely demotivating. There's very few famous YouTubers my age, probably the most famous is Lohanthony but that's the only one I know that's my age. I'm a person who will never give up on something they are passionate on, so that will not get in my way.

So I was thinking about what kind of a channel I could make that would be both enjoyable for me and my fans. I'm not the sketch type of person or anything like that. But I thought of something that nobody has really done yet, maybe there's a reason behind that but I'm not sure.

• It's a variation of vlogging, but not like going out and recording my life, because honestly, how interesting is a 15 year olds life? Exactly. I'm sure you guys are familiar with the YouTubers NigaHiga and PewDiePie. In addition to their normal sketch/gaming videos, they also do something that is probably my favourite aspects of their channels and where I got my idea from.

Pretty much they ask their fans on Twitter for things they should do, also known as #DearRyan and #PewdsDoesEverything. The fans tell them some funny (plenty of weird ones too) dares or things to do and they do it, and it always ends up making me laugh so much, and it looks even more fun for them. If you don't understand what I'm talking about I highly suggest you search those on YouTube.

• I would LOVE to do that. You don't need to be creative or spend hours thinking of what to do, and it is probably the most fun you will have making a video.

The problem is, you kind of need to be famous to be able to do that, which is why I'm assuming nobody has really tried making a channel just out of that. It sucks because I would need to create a whole different channel to get popular off that just to do this, but I ONLY WANT TO DO THIS! I would be doing this with a friend BTW.

So there's what I would dream of doing, now here come the questions. Sorry I like to talk a lot so if you aren't asleep yet here we go:

• I would most likely start out just doing the things under their hashtags because I'm a nobody in YouTube. Nobody even knows I'm going to be doing this except for my friend so we really are nobody haha. Uhm sorry I couldn't think of a question for that...

1. What is the best way to promote myself? I've heard of TubeToolBox but you need to target people in a certain niche... The niche I'm in doesn't really exist. So would I target vloggers?

2. Should I be giving myself fake views/likes/subs? Or should I only do that to keep my friend motivated when it isn't going well?

3. What are some whitehat and blackhat methods of getting myself out there and how do I get popular?

4 What would be the best keywords to use in my title for this? This honestly is the question that has me thinking the most. Also need a channel name.

5. DO I EVEN HAVE A CHANCE? Considering the niche and my age.

LASTLY, BE HONEST - WOULD YOU EVEN WATCH THIS?

TLDR: I'm 15. I want to make a YT channel that is a variation of vlogging - viewers dare or tell me to do things. It's fun. Read the questions up there at least, because I can't summarise them.

It might be cliche, but if you're driven enough you have a chance to achieve almost anything. Also, you'll never know until you've given it a shot...do you want to be sitting there a year from now wishing you went ahead with the plan or would you rather know it worked, or didn't?

I can't help with the YouTube promotions, don't know much about that area. But the question 'do I even have a chance?', yeah, you do.

I'll tell you honestly , People will watch ANYTHING .... I mean whatever you put infront of their eyes many will watch . Many people are super bored online. What's more important is how you market & promote your channel. What we all must concentrate on is techniques that work for us . Of course a good idea wouldn't be bad but lets be honest if promotion is there then growth comes and that's what is most important.Just put many eyeballs into 1 spot and then a new trend can be born.

Now simply buying subs and likes is just masking yourself and can make you look like you are famous but that won't do much ... think more and bigger . Focus on social networking sites and ways to expand there. Also try to be relevant and hop on trending topics that also can help with some nice flow of fresh traffic on your vids .

Thank you for that, it's really my way of thinking too. You never really know until you try. I mean like every single popular person never even expected to get anywhere.

Now I have a personal question for you though - would you watch it?

This makes me feel so much better. And worse at the same time because I am absolutely clueless at marketing and promoting. As I said earlier, I'm only 15 so I'm not exactly educated in those subjects. Would you recommend any programs to promote my channel? Or just anything that could help me out here? The only purpose of fake subs/likes/views is to be more appealing to newer people, but I agree, it does not have much help outside of that. I believe I am pretty set in stone with this topic of videos, so hopefully I can be the person to "give birth" to this trend of channels. Thank you so much for your help!

Internet marketers are not always creating videos to get fans. Our primary aim is to make money. Getting fans, likes, subscribers etc are part of the game plan.

If you are thinking of creating videos to get fans/subscribers and be on youtube for long time, then here are few tips. Stop thinking that everyone hates 15 year old boys etc... Think of whom you are creating the video for (your audience) and make them intererting for them to watch. Make short videos (1-3 minutes).
Create something useful or interesting so that if you show those videos to your friends they will share to their friends. In short let it go viral.

Now that I think of it, you're 100% correct. This forum was not the place to ask "Would you watch i" but was the correct place to ask "how do I promote it?"

Money is not the main incentive here... I see it as more of a bonus to doing the thing I love and have fun with as well as having a supportive and interactive fan base.

I also completely agree with the fact that age does not matter if you find the right target audience. What does have me wondering is why there are so little popular youtubers around this age.

I was planning on making my videos from 3-5 minutes so it seems that I'm in a good range.

Still not sure of the best way or even any way of how to promote this page. Maybe I'll try tubetoolbox or hopefully someone recommends a method.

HOWEVER, there is still one thing that is making me question the success of this. Only popular YouTubers do this, and people watch because they like them for whatever else they do and its another way to connect with them. Nobody ONLY does this. Maybe that's a good thing, maybe that's a bad thing.

It seems like trying to get one of them or part of one of them to go viral will just boost my channel immensely.

I don't quite understand the point of your post. Asking if people would watch it. Youtube is like google, people watch the top 3-4 videos UNLESS looking for something specific. People watch popular youtubers because of the content, so what do they all have in common. There is no such thing as can't.

Are you good looking?
People (especially your age) tend to like watching videos of good looking people - if you are ugly you have to be really ugly to get an audience

One of the main reason out there why the youtube community hates kids, is because they're annoying and doesn't achieve viewers respect/attention.
Honestly, i've seen a 11 years old on Facebook had 200k likes, and people love him because he's funny, and give out content that people find either interesting/funny/attractive, think of all the other dudes out there how they got noticed, Nigahiga got noticed by his famous videos "How to be Gangsta/Emo", at that time, he was the number one most subscribed youtuber.
And Pewdiepie was also shy making videoes, but his fans motivated him to show himself on cam, and together with his fans, they became so much like now, he has 11 million subs. So my point is, don't just make videos for make them, give your videos something attractive/worthy content. It's always hard to start off, and i'm on the same platform as you. Don't use fake subs etc, because after a while, you don't really know how many "real" fans you have outthere, and it just feels empty, i got 3k subs, but when i make a video, almost no one is commenting, but i do get some views.
Later on i tried TubeToolBox, i've only tried for a week, but that program requies patience, and so did i, in 1 week, i recieved some comments, about 20-25, and 700-1000 views on one video, and got som followers, 10-15, but hey, that's a start, and on the TubeToolBox Forum, one woman have been using it for a long time, and she's on 40k subs, or 200k can't remember.

But there's some points you should look at.
Dont post video for post - Post if it contains some worthy content, like fun/weird/new and not boring video where nothing happens.
Patience - Propably the most important thing.
Advertising - TubeToolBox will i use there, or either do some videos with some other youtubers, advertising is the best way to get known.

Maybe some more points, but couldn't remember, but remember, just don't be one random *ss screaming kid, if you can gain people's respect, you're on the right path.

I'm also a youtuber, posting gaming video, well i only have 10-12, but i'm planning on commentaries, i wanna do funny/commentaries, and not just playing a game, and tell my subbers "Cya next time". That's boring.

Just turned 17 years old month ago.
But Personally, i would recommend tubetoolbox if you're completely new, for sure.
10-12$ dollars a month isn't "worst case scenario" Lol

Pewds started when he was like 16-17, smosh started same age, by the time you'd be big you'd be maybe 17-18, I started my channel late but I now have 116 subscribers everything takes time!

The most important thing is that you have fun making these Videos.
Your intention shouldn't be to get rich and famous in a short period of time.

If you enjoy making videos and upload good quality Videos constantly, views and subs will come slowly and grow exponentially.

Here's a twist, why don't you use your idea on fiverr? Get people to pay you $5 to dare you something?
