Do Google bot is scanning or reading images?

I have a question that google is really scanning or reading the images posted in website?

Because for example if i search something in google serp (ex: tax) only tax word presented in images are showing in top

I suspect google s reading or scanning the images like alt and anchor text used for the image

Can someone give any suggestion for this?????

Images are ranked on basis of their alt tag, title tag and captions.
 
yes you should always optimize alt tags for google search
you can pack your keywords in there more aggressively than the on page text
 
Google is also parsing the content, with tensorflow (a google developed AI) everyone can read an image, so it only makes sense that google is doing that too, with better AI/algorithms since a long time.

Just ranking images based on their tags would be too cheap and open door for search result manipulation.

What i was suspecting is if facebook can read our face and automatically shown our name when we upload our pics, then y cant google also give some preference like that

Type whatever in google then u can see the image which is having the text u searched for.. Everyone is having alt text and anchor text but still there is something more than that i guess

They are probably in the works for something like that, alt tags are simply more accurate right now since it is humans explaining a picture rather than a bot trying to figure it out.

But humans could also write BS in the alt-tags and by doing so manipulatin the search results.


And googles algorithms-ecco-system is not just a 10 lines python bot.

I think you are a little bit underestimating googles ressources and capabillitys in parsing images.

When used properly, the image feature on their search engine can be a good use for your website.

Wat am thinking is sometimes we no need to think too depth to understand google algorithm, coz google is working under a common condition to show results without any partiality that means even new user also can rank in 1st page

From my knowledge if the image s showing in answer box not because of alt or mouse hover text.
It will be two basic steps from my point of view
1. Image should be so meaningful respective to the site
2. Text presented in image giving some boost to the image

I might be wrong, but i tried and its worked
 
Google bots are scanning the alt texts of your images. They also look into the file name and the description as these help them understand what the photos are portraying. You can basically tell Google what the photo is all about so don't forget to optimize them.

This is my Question:
