Do free domain names still have any use?

I think they actually do.

I grabbed three free domains on Rayname recently, and honestly, they’re still pretty useful — especially if you’re playing around with ideas, building small projects, or testing something out.

Not every idea needs a paid domain from day one. Sometimes you want to get something online quickly and see where it goes.

Free domains are kind of perfect for that — low pressure, easy to experiment with.

Just sharing my experience

They can still be useful for testing ideas or small projects. Good for experimenting before investing in a paid domain. But for long term projects, I still prefer paid domains for better trust and control.

Yes, free domains are useful for testing ideas, learning, and small projects But for long-term SEO and trust on Google, a paid domain is better

Well, you're right. After your tests, you can then grab a paid domain that's more in tune with what you want to do.

They still have some use for testing ideas or small side projects. Good option when you just want to launch something quickly without much upfront cost.

Do you mean free domain name without subdomain. No provider will give you such. Or when it starts receiving some traffic they will take it away. Dont trust on these

That’s interesting. Where can we actually get free domains like these? And are they completely free even for renewal, or do they start charging after some time?

free domains are not worth it. We have no control over it.we cannot rely on it. it is not ours. we are not paying anything why will anyone think about us and take the trouble

Free domain is almost dead and Premium domains will also diminish in few years. Most of the projects are shifting on Apps. AI kiling many website traffic and so on..
Where can we get free domains? I actually need them for learning, testing, and experimenting with different projects.

how's the uptime been on rayname tbh? tried freenom back in the day and half my domains just got yanked randomly. for throwaway stuff free is fine but i wouldn't put anything serious on it

I actually agree with you . not every project deserves a paid setup immediately.
Free domains are useful for validating ideas, building prototypes, or testing traffic potential before committing resources.
Once something starts gaining traction though, moving to a proper branded domain usually makes sense.
