Guys, just a quick questions for developers/forum pros here, couldn't find any answer online.

Do forums share our IP details between them?
For example, if I get banned on forum 1, does it make sense that they share my IP and I will get banned on forum 2 as well?

Or maybe if I got banned in forum 1, then trying to register on other forums and get insta banned, does it mean they share IP details?

If they use a security plugin like something related to word fence for Wordpress then yes, most likely.

I run a large motorbike forum and use a cloud based spam checker but you’d need to spam a tidy amount to get blocked.

Although a lot of security plugins are not needed, just make it harder to sign up in the first place and limit link posting etc

What do you mean making it harder to sign up in the first place?

So, for instance, if a Mod saw my post and it looked like I'm a spammer and banned me from this forum, can it actually block my IP from registering/posting other forums?
What, they all share a cloud of spammers?

If they uses something like cloudflare and bans your IP then it become "hard" to use other sites. Like when i use my VPN to scrape google data manually, Login to different profiles on same site, Then every other cloudflare using site ask for Recaptcha verification for entry in that particular session.

That's interesting, didn't know that.
Doesn't it create many problems?
I mean, if one has solid account on one forum but he was banned from other forum, does it mean they gonna ban his solid account on the other forum just because a rival forum banned him?

Yes some forums share ban lists/IP lists. I think it is only applied on new registrations.

Forum mods/Web devs doesn't ban you from accessing their property but the company (example - cloudfare) just adds you in their spammers/abusers IP lists, It make using websites hard for spammers.

For example google shows me captcha for every 8-9th search and hackforums.net (i'm not promoting this) never approved my registration on VPN.

SO when two websites uses same company's services, They automatically share data by using same IP abuse list.

Yeah I understand.

But the result is same.
Do you think that if forum that uses cloudflare will ban me, all the others who uses cloudflare will ban me too?
I think it can cause many problems. They probably just block registeration, seems more logical.

NO, They wouldn't.

I think your account got banned just because some forums are way more strict than warrior forum :p.
Yeah I understand.

But the result is same.

I didn't think they exchanged lists of banned members/IP's but that's very interesting, you go on a ban list and you're done haha :)
