all links are ******** unless you specify nofollow. I would say you only need nofollow if its a link to your SEO competitors or to discourage spam where user content can be posted correct?

You need a solid mix of ******** and nofollow links pointing to your site. I have heard that a 60%/40% ratio (********/nofollow) is a good, natural backlink strategy to follow. Otherwise, Google's algorithm could penalize you for too many ******** links and lower your SERPs ranking.

they really expect you to have nofollow backlinks? 40% seems like a lot. I would expect much more to be follow naturally.

From past experience, it has helped us when we are ranking other sites. Of course, the nofollow links come from reputable sites with a higher PR. Even still, the lowest we have ever gone with our nofollow's is 25%, but we have seen the rankings drop consistently across several of our sites when we have done this.

The paranoia about this is kind of dumb. I would encourage people to do their own testing and draw their own conclusions. You'll be wow'd. If you buy a service for someone make sure they are all df or nf when you check the report.

Do-Follow Links are good for Human Traffic and SEO Traffic.
No-Follow Links are only good for Human Traffic which is still the best traffic you can have.
