I'm building out my first Amazon Affiliate site and I'm not sure if I should make the outbound reference links in my articles do follow or no follow? I'm not sure what the best practice is as I am not very experienced in SEO.

Thanks!

Place the Nofollow for outbound reference links it is good practice to your site and also give internal links it will give more boost on your site.

I think you can all no-follow them, because just think about wikipedia and other big medias, they are totally ok now lol.

PS: better not link out to your direct competitors (even reference), or u may just boost their ass.

Personally for an affiliate site, no-follow.

Hey it a common thing surely you have to use no follow for all your outbond links.

Almost all no-f*llow. Certainly competition no-f*llow. However if they are in your vertical or horizontal market (suppliers, co-products or services) the odd follow link works well in terms of building business relationships. I sell Golf holidays in Europe. When I link to golf courses and car rentals I drop the company a line and tell them about their review. So often I get an unasked for reciprocal back "Look at our review on [mysite]"
I've got links from Hilton group, Hertz and various big airlines like this. If I use no-f*llow, the pick up rate is much lower. These big guys have their own SEO departments, they know the score, and often a f*llow out earns a f*ollow in.

More than one reason to be generous with links when it's appropriate and right to do so. :)
