Hi, I'm here for pretty long and haven't seen much emoji in posts🌳. I thought they could make a post more catchy. Am I wrong?

they can look childish and most people on here are using a computer and cant be bothered to copy/paste an emoji, its not worth the time i guess.

Childish or no, emojis draw attention and that should be one important purpose of thread titles especially in the BST where the competition is fierce in most sections. It's not a coincidence that a lot of marketers use them in social media frequently or even email marketers in subject lines. Emojis are a very simple way to stand out.

Why emojis aren't used more often? One reason is what kittykut mentioned above, that emojis cannot be typed in, BHW doesn't have a selection of them when you make a post and most people cannot be arsed to copy-paste them from somewhere else. On the other hand i bet, that most people don't even know, that emojis can be used here.

In the BST section plenty of sellers desperately try to grab attention with using (excessive amount) of special characters in the thread titles, when they could simply use colored emojis instead. :)

I would avoid a sales thread with emojis like the plague. Regardless of the insightful post above from HB, to me emojis ooze unprofessionalism. I'm not texting my wife, I'm looking to purchase a professional service.

An emoji can be used only in the title of a BST and only when it's something related to your business. But it must be good tho

Edit: haha shit doesn't even show up...

When I look from mobile, they are colorful, but from desktop they all are yellow. Ugly!

I like when emails have ONE tasteful emoji at the start of the subject line. Expedia did this for a while I believe

That's true, i'm not really a fan of the emojis either, but if you want to draw attention, they're a good way to do it. I think in this matter they're better than using excessive amount of special characters, everybody does that and no matter what, those will stay yellow, the default font color and when a lot of people do it, which is the case in the BST section, it loses its purpose, instead of standing out, you blend in. Whereas emojis can be colored, you don't have to use too many, one or two is enough as Jared255 mentioned it.

How come? They're colored on desktop too including this tree you posted.

I personally wouldn't use them in a sales thread, although I use smileys occasionally on this forum to let other users know what tone my post has. Without them, users tend to interpret what I say based on what their mood is.

in the main sale thread I wouldn't use any. The ad has to be short precise and on point
emoji will distract buyers.

in the replys, maybe, but it depends

🚀 The behavior of the emoji is really weird on this forum. I added a tree emoji in the title from mobile, and currently I cannot see it from desktop. Later on, I added one more from my desktop PC, and I cannot view it currently either. It is a bit risky to add them as they just can be improperly rendered by a browser and confuse people.
