Do different top level domains affect how well your website does?

My question is that if, for example, we take manga.com and basically do everything to make it a proper working site and get it indexed, and then, for example, we take manga.co.uk, manga.org, or manga.net and basically do the same, it gets built up. Would there be any difference? Would the .com carry more weight, or would it be the same, or would people's opinions about the site be different, e.g., if it's .ai, people think the website has something to do with AI, or if it's .co.uk, people think it's a UK website?

in terms of people's preferences, the old generations of people will probably trust .com more. I am part of the old generation (just turned 45 on the 8th of January), but for me the TLD has no meaning anymore, I can easily trust a .com as much (or as little) as I trust a .xyz. And that's because I know that scamming has become so advanced that even the government scam you all the time, much less a random stranger that uses a .com. But a lot of the older generations of people probably do still trust .com more... probably...

So, in the end, it doesn't matter which TLD you use (except for the ccTLDs, like I said, those can help you rank better in their respective countries).
