I want to rank my Fiverr gig. I have been waiting for months. But no luck. Do creating backlinks improve rankings?

Building links to Fiverr gigs won't work never will just gotta look at what others are doing and try to improvise....

Backlinks are for SEO. If you build backlinks, you'll rank on search engines like Google and Bing.

Just creating a Gig and then waiting for some magic to happen, won't really help I'm afraid.
First of all you need to optimize your on-page stuff the same way as you would optimize your own website.
Compare / analyse other fiverr gigs who are ranking with the keywords you want to target.
Also you need to make sure to get some orders from fiverr and get positive reviews... There are even services for that to get your first orders from different fiverr accounts.
It would also help to keep your account online as much as possible. People buying gigs on fiver will usually send messages to many fiver sellers anyway... If you respond the next day, they have probably placed their order somewhere else anyway... (Like I would)...
Keep testing until you get your fiver account take off

Giving a backlink to your Fiverr gig doesn't help you rank on the Fiverr search page, but the more review you get and the seller level increase, it will help you to rank your gig. Fiverr will give you more exposure. My recommendation, you can join your local group engagement to love and view your gig, it can help to boost your gig.

You can't use backlinks for Fiverr gigs, buy reviews.
