i’ve noticed the impact of a large number of bad backlinks, where the anchor text and the linking page content don’t match the site’s content. i think it messes with google’s algorithms and hurts relevance. if the target site doesn’t have strong backlinks with the right anchors, this kind of attack can do serious damage

Backlinks dont affect rankings at all.
Google removed it out of the algo a long time ago because they knew 95% were just made to fool the algo so backlinks are useless for measuring recommandations.
Very strange lots of the topics on BHW is about selling backlinks to newbies.
There must be a great power behind the scenes who has major interest in this scam.
IMO, BHW is about together searching the edges and make money. Not about scamming each other.

if all you have is bad links they can affect your site. Otherwise (if most of your links are good and your site's authority is high enough) the bad links will most likely be ignored by google.

Google algo has indeed evolved. Backlinks are no longer part of it.

According to a recent update by google all the bad links will automatically be neglected. So there is a little chance that bad links will negatively affect your ranking.

I dont think bad backlinks effect . Its 2025 and lot of ai has been used to detect domain quality. The biggest one is conversion. How many visitors dont come back to google after reaching your site ( for same keyword) .

Never seen any penalty for unnatural backlinks.
IMO its just a hoax.

OP I think this is it.
The more quality backlinks you have the less likely poor quality links would affect your site.
But that's not a recommendation to go buy some badlinks or buy a domain with poor quality links.
