Do Backlinks Help with App Store and Play Store Ranking ?

I am new in ASO, I have read many reviews and articles about ASO Optimization, but didn't get the clear view about backlinks to my app link will help in App Store or playstore ranking ?

If anyone have the experience in App ranking, please can share your must do things for ranking for app.

Most important thing is retention and sales in my experience.
If an app is gettign lots of downloads, if it also shows retention or sales, Playstore will just kept pushing it up in rankings. Essentially this tells them it's a great fit for the consumer.
To get the spark started though, I did keyword research and impregnated the keywords into not just the description but the Images aswell (because apparently they use OCR to read the text on the images). Also replying to any reviews by naturally including your keywords can't hurt.
