I use wordAi ( no affiliation with the site ) with great results.
They also have copyscape api implemented so you can check copyscape directly from the spinner. ( you just need to find spins that have 0 matches )

I have doing many SEO and my opinion is:

it's depend, if you targeting low keyword search it's will works
but if you targeting tight keyword, no it's not

Ok. it means that manually rewriting articles work for tight keywords.
