Please substantiate if some of you can, but I heard from a commentator during England-US match, that there are now more than 90 million Americans actively involved in soccer. "Actively involved" needs to be clarified, nevertheless, 90 million is almost the population of the Philippines - your outsourcing haven : )

what do you mean by that? Soccer is gay? does that mean that soccer is male? or by 'gay' did you mean 'lesbian' and soccer is a female? Now im curious what gender all the other sports are. please tell me. Ive been wondering for so long whether or not volleyball was a man or a woman. Because it seems pretty dike-ish to me. Thats not to say that I dont enjoy watching volleyball. I think its pretty cool to watch. I just have never figured out what its sexuality was. Maybe you can help. thanks.
Anyway, in my opinion soccer is far more interesting than any of our sports (im anAmerican). First of all there are no commercial breaks. BIG plus. secondly the strategy involved is way more intricate than basketball, baseball or american football in my opinion. Thirdly I actually like that in soccer there is less scoring. It makes each score that much cooler and exciting. There's more anticipation involved and so when someone scores the climax is AWESOME. So in a way you really could say that soccer is like sex. Now i'm not so sure its like gay sex. But its definitely like heterosexual sex.
Uh oh... what if soccer has been gay all along and ive been having these unclean heterosexual thoughts about it... maybe... im gay
Funny, I find Baseball to be quite slow and boring. I used to play it years ago. The main action is between the pitcher, catcher and the one at bat. Otherwise, everyone stands around waiting for something to happen. Each to his own, I suppose.
American Football is good, but how many people are anything like the giants on the grid-iron? Not many......they keep getting bigger each year.
Soccer makes you run your ass off and requires both offensive and defensive tactics. I tried to recruit some of the running backs from the football team to play on my soccer team in High School and they said, "You all run too much"......I thought that was funny.
Sports are like movies and not everyone agrees on what constitutes a good movie.
I am surprised that more of the UK BH'ers haven't commented here......
As far as participation goes, millions of kids and adolescents play AYSO and other organized soccer in the USA. The fan base has to come from those players/families. It continues to grow.
Hey, I NEVER thought that I would see MLS or a World Cup game on ESPN........

Get yourself a list of all of the players on the teams. Do keyword research on them. Record, or find recordings of the game to throw into a video editor. Cut the game down into "scenes" featuring the players. Upload to UTUB with a watermark to a sports betting CPA. Rinse and repeat.
The research is the tedious part, and good vid editing can take some time, so if you're up to the work, there you are.....
Focus on non-US or international offers, SEO, and other research.......

Why is the UEFA called the Champions League? Is it because Europeans think they are all champions and the rest of the world are losers?
And to answer the original question- yes, there are millions of Americans that care about the world cup (and soccer in general). Are they the majority? Probably not, but still a big market to be sure.

African equivalent CAF Champions League
North America, Central America, and the Caribbean equivalent CONCACAF Champions League
Oceania equivalent OFC Champions League
Only South America's Copa Libertadores doesn't use the term "Champions League".

If you want the real answer, it was called the World Series by newspapers covering the event in the early 20th century and the name stuck. In 1903, America was the "world" when it came to professional baseball, which made it a fitting title.
Hopefully it will open up someday so the champion of the USA/Canada will play in a tourney against the best professional teams of the rest of the world, and North America's title as "world series champions" will be solidified all the more.
