Yes age is factor when you want to post links on Reddit, but it is not completely true. The thing that mainly matters is how well you have warmed-up the account, if you warm-up an account properly and accurately then you can post link with even a month old account too.

I think both matter, but subreddit targeting is more important. For example, a new account with low karma can still get engagement if you post in an active, relevant subreddit. However, if your account looks too young or has 0 karma, some subs auto-remove your posts. I've seen better results building karma first in smaller, related subs before targeting the big ones.
I think this also depends on the mods of the subs. If you approach things wrong some mods will be more proactive, especially if they’re using the subreddit to funnel business as well. They can be territorial.

Look for accounts that have correlated stats for age+karma, You're looking to replicate legitimate account activity.
Example:
Account 1 is 1 month old, and has 25k karma.
Account 2 is 3 years old, and has 3k karma,
Account 2 is significantly stronger. Account 1 is dogshit. Any seller who tells you otherwise is either clueless or scamming.

A 6 month+ old account with 1k karma and consistent non-promotional posts over an extended period of time is gold.
A 5 year old account with 1k karma but hasn't commented/posted for several years is dogshit (which is what most acc sellers will try and sell you).

In my experience, account age alone doesn’t make link posts perform better. What matters more is having some good karma, posting relevant content, and following subreddit rules. An older account helps only if the subreddit has age restrictions, but engagement and quality of the post are what really drive visibility.

Older Reddit accounts usually get filtered less and pass subreddit rules that require some age or karma. I’ve seen this myself: one account I’ve had for over a year stayed way more stable than newer ones, even after I didn’t log in for a while. Links still work best when they match the subreddit, so warm up with comments and post where links are normal.

Account age and karma help reduce the chances of your posts being removed when posting in subs. However, posts that include links can still easily lead to account suspension, as Reddit’s moderation is very strict.

Age and karma mainly help you avoid filters and instant suspicion, but real visibility and engagement still come from matching the exact sub’s culture, problem, and timing

Immediate removal is caused by automatic reddit filters AND/OR account strength.
If your post/comment is visible immediately after posting, but gets removed shortly after, this is due to the the moderators of that specific subreddit being active. In this instance, account age nor karma has anything to do with the removal. It's being removed by a Reddit user who is a moderator of said subreddit, not Reddit itself. If the comment is public after 30 minutes, and then gets deleted, thats the subreddit mods (not reddit staff) removing manually.
This is why many of us search for abandoned subreddits (by which I mean absent moderators), that are sizeable and still have good interaction. Google loves these, and your posts/comments will stick for as long as the subreddit isn't reported and Reddit Admins (not moderators) take control and appoint new moderators.

Aged accounts help a little, mainly with trust and fewer filters. But targeting the right subreddit and posting naturally matters more. Even an old account won't work well if the link looks forced or spammy.

The age of the account does not affect the visibility of links. The main factors are how old the answer is and how old the thread is in which you posted.
