Do Affiliate links count as backlinks?

I am going to be releasing a affiliate program for my software. I will be using a link structure of https://(website)/RefferalCode

In theory, this should count as a backlink. I've been reading a few articles online and I've been seeing mixed responses. What do you guys think?

I think it will increase DA but i dont know if it counts as a backlink. What if people spam their aff link ??

In my affiliate terms & services, I mention the possibility of getting your affiliate account shut down if they do spammy marketing. As far as monitoring that, I do not have any technique in mind for spotting affiliates doing that. Im still new to SEO
 
They will be backlinks, but with the new Google guidelines, your affiliates will have to add the rel="nofollow sponsored" to your links, which means that no Authority will pass to your website.

However, these links will have a benefit: contextual links and association with other products and services similar to yours. In other words, Google will better understand your product offering.

ahrefs use it to spot all theincom backlinks
 
i think this should increase authority, btw you can also use avangate if you want to promote your software product.
 
Are you planning to use

https://(website)/RefferalCode

or

https://(website)/?code=RefferalCode

First link means it is a new page. So you have to have content for t or no-index this page.

Second means it is homepage.

Backlink will count in both cases.
 
They will pass some power and authority but the chances are they won't be that relevant from the pages they are coming from.

Which one would you recommend? Im not too knowledgable in this specifically.

Im targeting content creators so finding people to promote shouldn't be an issue but I will look into that site. The more exposure the better. Thanks!
 
Make sure you ask your affiliates to make them nofollow.
 
Affiliate links give some power to your site.
 
This is how Amazon became so big. Affiliate links drives context and juice.
