I have never used or bought an expired domain for 301 redirecting so i am planning to buy a hq domain from the BST and 301 redirect it to one of my money sites. But my question are they still worth ? Do they give nice SERP rankings ? And should i buy a niche based expired domain or it doesn't matter?

Last I tried they seemed to work. However this was about a year ago and with how often SEs change their algorithms it may be dead by now.

Try doing it with a cheap expired one first and see what happens if all else fails.

Good luck.

Personally, for 301's I usually go for a matching niche. It's probably more of a hunch than anything, but with PBN's I find niches don't matter much, but for 301's the links are coming direct in whatever context they were in on the original site.

In saying that, I have customers that buy domains based solely on backlinks etc, and the niche never matters. Not even for 301 redirects. An expired domain will set you back $20 - $30 most of the time, so it's not a huge investment if you want to try it out.

I use 301 redirect only for relevant domains and works great for me.

If i used a domain for 301 can i use it later as a PBN or it will not work anymore ?

Just use the domain in the same niche, even better on the same topic and with clean backlink profile.

Yes they are still working + you should buy a domain that is within your niche.
