Do 301 redirects still work?

Two years ago when one of my domain got penalized I could easily 301 redirect it to a new one and the previous rankings would come back.

Is it still working nowadays? Long time I didn't try it.

Yeah they still work for me.

Yes, it does but not so effectively. Last month I did to 2 of my domains. one had regained its position but still little far off than its original. but this proves that it does pass the juice

Redirecting penalized domain to a new domain won't work nowadays. Penalties are passed via 301 and overall, 301 takes quite some time to take effect and it's not as easy to pull off as it used to be. Not worth the bother imo.

Why you redirect the penalized site to your new site it chance to affect your new site also.

Basically to get the rankings back temporarily while working on a new legit website. In my experience it took a few weeks/months until the affection kicked in. In one case it didn't affect the new domain at all.

I just tried it. Lets see what happens in the next few days.
